Obituary for George Laios
George Laios, 96, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2018 in the arms of his beloved wife and surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Athens, Greece, he was a longtime Ludlow resident and worked for many years at Smith and Wesson from where he retired. He was also a devoted member of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield and a member of its church choir and Over 60 Club. George was the beloved husband of 66 years to Georgette (DeRossi) Laios; a loving father to Takis Laios and wife Beverly, and Maryellen Knapp and friend George Andros; a cherished grandfather to Cassandra and Katerina Laios; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for George will be held on Thursday, January 25th from 9:00-10:00am at Ludlow Funeral Home. The funeral mass and burial will be held privately by the family and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s memory to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral 22 St. George Road Springfield, Ma. 01104.
