Obituary for George Robitaille

George Robitaille, 91, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Ludlow in 1934, George was the son of Armand and Marguerite Robitaille. He grew up with strong family values, a deep work ethic, and an appreciation for the outdoors that stayed with him throughout his life.

George graduated from Putnam Trade School in 1953. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Myra Silva, and together they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and shared adventures.

For 35 years, George worked at Crucible Steel, where he was known for his dedication and reliability. He retired in 1991, opening the door to the next chapter of his life—one filled with travel, time with loved ones, and enjoying the simple pleasures he cherished most.

An avid outdoorsman, George found peace and happiness in nature. He loved hunting, ice fishing, camping, skiing, and truly anything that brought him outside. After retirement, he and Myra traveled often, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren at their sporting events. His presence in the stands was a constant source of encouragement, pride, and joy.

George leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts: his wife of 69 years, Myra (Silva) his son Steve and his wife Robin (Smith) his daughter Sherry (Robitaille ) Leastman and his four grandchildren—George Leastman and his wife Sophia, Aaron Leastman and his wife Amanda, Carrie Minie and her husband Christopher, Taylor Jordan and her husband Christopher. He was blessed with six great grandchildren Jaxon and Harper Minie, Casey and Devyn Leastman and Emma and Claire Jordan, all of whom brought him much joy. He also leaves several caring nieces and nephews

He was predeceased by his parents, Armand and Marguerite, and his four siblings: Roland Robitaille, Eugene Robitaille, Shirley Hebert, and Beatrice Rush.

George was a proud member of the drum corps and a devoted parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Church. His legacy is one of kindness, strength, humility, and unwavering love for his family.  He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral services for George will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 8:45am from the Ludlow Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by entombment in Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home are Friday evening November 21st from 5:00-7:00pm
