Obituary for Gerald "Gerry" Gilmore
Gerald “Gerry” Gilmore, 74, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lancaster, Ma., he was the son of the late John and Doris (Pearson) Gilmore. Gerry worked for many years at Pelican before retiring in 2018 and in his spare time, he was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed taking trips to the casino and Maine, but he will most notable be remembered for the kind, gentle, and loving person that he was. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Gerry was the beloved husband of 34 years to Nancy (White) Gilmore; a loving father to Erin Gilmore and partner Paul, of Boston; and the late John Gilmore who predeceased him in 2020; a cherished grandfather to Zachary Gilmore; a dear brother to Patricia Conger and husband David, and the late Jack, Elliot, Sam, and Maggie; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends.
Gerry’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Baystate Hospice, especially to Julie and Peter, for their exceptional care and compassion.
Family and Friends are asked to gather on Saturday, November 1st for a Liturgy of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00am in St. Michael’s Parish in East Longmeadow followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donation be made in Gerry's memory to the The ALS Association, Attn: Northern New England Chapter 200 Friberg Parkway Suite 1000. Westborough, MA 01581
