Obituary for Germano Oliveira
Germano Oliveira, 80, of Ludlow, was called to Heaven on Sept. 1, 2010. Born in Padornelos, Portugal on Dec. 3, 1929, son of the late Jose Oliveira and Ana (Goncalves) Oliveira, he lived in Ludlow for 42 years and was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Germano was a machine shop operator at Easco Tools from where he retired in 1991. In his spare time, Germano loved to play Bocce and was a fanatic “Benfica” fan. He was also a member of the Gremio Lusitano Club and his hobbies included playing cards, especially Lerpa, wine making, gardening, going to the beach, and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Germano was the beloved husband of Maria (Crespo) Oliveira for 53 years; a loving father and father-in-law to Ines Coelho and husband Antonio, Laurie (Lourdes) Afonso, Maria Machado and husband Jack, Nancy Teixeira and husband Carlos, and Mario Oliveira, all of Ludlow; a cherished grandfather to Justin, Jessica, Adam, Karyna, Andrew, Joshua, Jordan, Joseph A., Mario, Selina, and Joseph T.; adored great-grandfather to Alexis and Julian; a dear brother to Ana Afonso, of Reading, Ma, Maria Mendes and Mario G. Oliveira, both of Ludlow, and the late Arminda Crespo; and also leaves many extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services are on Friday morning at 8am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian burial at 9am in our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 4-7pm
