Obituary for Gina (Georgina) Silva
Gina (Georgina) Silva, 75, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on February 28th surrounded by her loving family. Born in São Francisco de Assis, Covilhã, Portugal to the late Augusto and Teresa Aguiar, she came with her parents to the U.S. when she was a child. Gina worked as a teacher’s assistant for the transitional bilingual program at East Street School for almost 20 years and later, she assumed the functions of Vice President and Office Manager at Portuamerica, Inc. from where she retired. Her favorite hobbies were spending time with her family, traveling with her husband, and enjoying visits to her home “her Cantinho” in Oeiras (Lisbon), Portugal. She will be greatly missed and her strength, wisdom, and charity will live on with those who have known her. Gina was the beloved wife of 59 years to Fernando A. Silva; a loving mother to Anthony (Teresa), David (Kimberly), and Michael (Marisha); a doting grandmother to Brian, Karina, Meghan, Gage, Quinn, and Sebastian; a dear sister to Antonio Aguiar (Tillie); and aso leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for Gina are on Friday March 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Saturday, March 4th at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by interment in Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CurePSP to benefit Progressive Supranuclear Palsy Research (psp.org).
