Obituary for Grace J. (Corigliano) Irla
Grace J. (Corigliano). Irla, 75, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Springfield, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria Corigliano, she was a graduate of Technical High School and came to Ludlow in 1973. Grace was a communicant of Mt. Carmel Church, Springfield, and St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Ludlow; as well as a member of their choirs and also led the Young People’s Choir. In addition to being a homemaker, she loved to paint, worked for many years at St Michael’s Cemetery and also worked as a dental assistant. Grace was the beloved wife of the late Walter H. Irla, who predeceased her in Dec., 2008; a loving mother to Cynthia Ruby and her husband Kenneth Sr., of Ludlow; a cherished grandmother of Heather, Kenneth Jr., Michael, Christopher and Angela; great-grandmother of James Gagne Jr.; a dear sister to Reverend Anthony Corigliano, CSS, of Springfield, Mary Hervieux, of Ludlow and the late Carlo and Joseph Corigliano; and also leaves several other family members and dear friends. Grace’s family also wishes to acknowledge Mercy Hospice and caregivers Lori Cyr, Andrea Harrington, Joanne Pimpare and Amanda Walker for all comfort and special care. Funeral services are on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at 9am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church followed by burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Grace’s memory to Mercy Hospice 1236 Main St. Holyoke, Ma. 01040 or St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cedar St Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
