Obituary for Gusto 'Gus' Tomassetti
Gusto "Gus" Tomassetti, 97, of Pompano Beach, Fl., died peacefully on June 4, 2013 surrounded by the love of his family.  Born in Springfield, son of the late Crescentino and Maria (Spadoni) Tomassetti, he was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving his country during WWII in special services and entertainment.  Following his military service, Gus worked in the 1940's for American Bosch, Dept 300, and as a salesman in the 1950's for Hampden Brewery, where he represented them for may years as Hampden Troubadour in the St. Patrick's Day Parade,  in the 1960's for Narragansett Brewing and in the 1970's for S&S Distributing from where he retired in 1977.  Gus was a faithful communicant for many years at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and was also a proud lifetime member of Springfield Elk's Lodge #61 and Local Musicians Union.  He spent over 60 years enjoying the beaches in Misquamicut Beach RI, especially Dunes Park in Weekapaug.  Gus was well known as a local entertainer and accordionist, a passion which started in the 1930's, and he often played with various celebrities when they came to the area.   He and is combo played for countless family weddings and outings at the Red Barn, Vincent's Steak House, Kelly's Grove, Betty's Towne House, Springfield Country Club, Cornell University's Alumni Reunions, and Corporate Reunions (A.O Smith Boilers); Gus was the beloved husband of  Eileen (Collins) Tomassetti from 1940 until her passing in 1978; a dear brother to the late Pietro, Aldo J., Dante P., Joseph P., and Armida Grilli;  cherished uncle to David, Ricci, Paul, Daniel, Rinaldo (Rocky) Grilli Jr., Dianne Tomassetti, Sarah Tomassetti, June Robbins, Carol Long, Rena Francoeur, Regina Moriarty, Josephine Kida, and Pauline Ellis; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends.  Friends and Family are asked to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial for Gus to be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10:00am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Springfield.  Interment will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
Gus's family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of Heritage Woods and Heritage Hall for the special care that they gave to him ! 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gus's memory to the American Cancer Society PO Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
