Obituary for Harold D. Fonner
Harold D. Fonner, 79, of Ludlow, passed away April 18, 2014 after an otherwise long and healthy life. Harold was born on August 26, 1934 in Dunkirk, MD to Elwood and Isabella (White) Fonner. Harold grew up on an 81-acre farm and always had a love of the outdoors. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1956 and became a jet mechanic working on B-52s. While stationed at Westover AFB, he met the love of his life and partner in marriage for 54 years, Eleanor (Jarosz) Fonner. Together, they raised their two children in Springfield, MA. He spent his later years on Haviland Pond in Ludlow. Harold worked for many years as a mechanic, Teamsters Local 404 tractor trailer driver, and then as a City of Springfield school bus driver. He was always willing to lend a hand and loved talking with everyone he met. He leaves behind his wife, Eleanor, his son Donald Fonner and his wife Kathleen of Holland, MA, daughter Suzanne MacDonald and her husband Kevin of Hopkinton, MA and his loving grandchildren William, Mark, Trevor, Elizabeth, and Julia. He was predeceased by his brother William, twin brother Donald, and great grandson Liam. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 24th at 9:30 in Ludlow Funeral Home followed by burial at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam at 11:00am. Visiting hours will precede the funeral from 8:15-9:30Â
