Obituary for Helen (Connelly) Frink

Helen Margaret (Connelly) Frink, 79, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on November 28, 2024. Born in Winthrop, Massachusetts, on April 14, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Laurence Patrick Connelly and Josephine Marie (Fahey) Connelly. Helen lived her life taking care of everyone, including the love of her life, Leroy Wendell Frink, 84, of Ludlow, Massachusetts. Helen and Leroy celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on September 11, 2024. Helen grew up in East Boston, eventually moved to Dorchester, and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Roxbury, Massachusetts, in 1963. Her passion for taking care of people led her to Baystate Medical Center, where she worked as a CNA for 22 years. Helen always had a special place in her heart for animals. She and Leroy met many friends while camping and, upon retiring, spent their summers at the Salisbury Beach State Reservation as host campers. If you were camping at Salisbury Beach, you would likely pass their camper and hear the Red Sox game playing or Peaches screaming, or Sasha barking. Helen is predeceased by her in-laws, Wendell H. Frink and Margaret Anna (Forgette) Frink; her two sisters, Marie (Connelly) Siraco and Adrienne (Connelly) Petrillo; her brother-in-law, Robert Thomas; her nephew, Arthur Siraco, with whom she shared a birthday; and many beloved relatives, including Uncle Jr. Dona Forgette, Emedio Maloni, Daniel Carrier, Daniel O’Sullivan, and Maniu (Stec) Siwicki. Helen is survived by the love of her life, Leroy Frink; her two sons, Mark (Cheryl) of Ludlow and Scott (Sarah) of Easthampton; her grandson, Alan, his wife, Tara, and her great-grandchildren, Aedan, Rylan, and Maura; and of course, Sasha, her shadow for the last 11 years. She will also be deeply missed by her best friend and youngest sister, Anna (Connelly) Thomas; her oldest surviving aunt, Viola Forgette; her two brothers-in-law, Dominic Siraco (Marie) and Alphonse Petrillo (Adrienne); and many nieces and nephews. Helen’s last few months were a struggle, during which she sheltered her family from the true pain she was experiencing. In the days leading up to her passing, her niece and guardian angel, Christine Siraco, came to be with her and cared for her during her final days. The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice for their compassion and care for Helen in her final days. They also extend their gratitude to Frances Pirela, from Comfort Care VNA, for the outstanding care she provided prior to Helen’s transition to hospice. Funeral services for Helen will be held on Thursday December 5th, 2024 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visitation Is Thursday morning from 11:15am-12:30pm with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 12:30pm with Pastor Juan Curet, following the service her burial will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Helen’s name to Tunnel to Towers (T2T.org) or the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Control & Adoption Center of Springfield.
