Obituary for Helen (Wcislo) Maciaga
Helen A. (Wcislo) Maciaga, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday October 21, 2010 at Wingate Nursing Home in Hampden MA. She was a resident of Ludlow (nearly 40 years) and then East Longmeadow (over 50 years), and lived briefly recently in Springfield. She was born November 6, 1920, the daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Chlastawa) Wcislo. She attended Ludlow High School, was also a graduate of Beautician School, and worked as a hairdresser prior to raising a family and becoming a homemaker. She was a wonderful, loving and dedicated mother and wife. She was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Ludlow and was married to her loving husband John for 48 years prior to his death in 1992. Her interests through life were first and foremost her family, and also cooking, vegetable gardening, flower gardening and word puzzles. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her friendliness, sparkling eyes and wonderful smile. Helen is survived by her son John Maciaga Jr. and his wife Sharon of South Windsor, CT; her daughter Shirley Maciaga and her husband Michael Kohut of Monson, MA; a granddaughter Caroline Maciaga; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John, sister Victoria Kozyra, and brothers Joseph Wcislo and Stanley Wcislo. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 25th, 2010 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in Christ The King Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00pm and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s memory to: Alzheimers Association Western Mass Chapter, 264 Cottage St., Springfield, MA. 01104.
