Obituary for Herminia (Pereira) Agostinho
Herminia (Pereira) Agostinho, 85, of Ludlow, died peacefully on April 16, 2013 surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Beira Baixa, Portugal, daughter of the late Antonio Nunes Pires and Maria Pereira Nunes, she was a longtime Ludlow resident where she was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Herminia worked for many years at Valmont Inc. in the Ludlow Mills before her retirement. Her greatest pleasures in life were gardening, cooking and especially taking care of her grandchildren. Herminia was the beloved wife of 58 years to Jose Agostinho; a loving mother to Robert Agostinho and wife Kelly, of Charlestown, NH, and Dulce Santiago Diegel and husband Ken, of Westfield; a cherished grandmother to Jeffery and Candida Santiago, as well as Tara Johnson, Amanda Diegel, and Patricia Diegel; a dear sister to Alice Barata, of France, and the late Antonio Pereira; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Herminia's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Wingate at Springfield N.H. and Beacon Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 10:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Friday from 4-7pm.
