Obituary for Homer E. Bergeron
Homer E. Bergeron, 89, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Indian Orchard to the late Edmund and Aurora (Belanger) Bergeron, he was a 1948 graduate of Trade High School and was a United States Army veteran proudly serving his country during the Korean War. Homer worked for many years at Monsanto from where he retired as a supervisor, and was a member and past Exalted Ruler for the Chicopee Lodge of Elks. Homer was a faithful and active communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow, serving as a member of its League of the Sacred Heart and a volunteer for the annual meat pie fundraiser which uses his wife’s family recipe. Homer was the beloved husband of the late Jean Orea (Dumais) Bergeron who predeceased him in Dec 2018; a loving father to Susan Bergeron-West (David) of Brimfield, Linda Livingstone (David) of Ludlow, Sharon Burdick (Craig) of Belchertown, and Kenneth Bergeron (Andrea) of Arlington, MA; caring brother to the late Albert and Roland Bergeron, Anna Chrusciel, and Irene Bond; cherished grandfather to Jill Wray, Cheryl Lewis, Kristie Zielenski, Kaitlyn Myers, Scott Bergeron, Alex Bergeron, and Andrew Bergeron; and great-grandfather to Brady, Emma, Kayleigh, Abigail and Logan. He also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Special heartfelt thanks go to his personal care assistants Julia, Teresa, Maria and Xiomara. Visiting hours for Homer are on Tuesday, Jan. 7th from 4:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. Funeral services are on Wednesday, Jan 8th at 10:00am from the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth Parish, followed by burial at 1:00pm in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers please make donations in Homer’s memory to WestMassElderCare, Inc. at www.wmeldercare.org.
