Obituary for Honore "Hondo" DeGray
Honore “Hondo“ DeGray, 66, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on October 18, 2011, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Springfield the son of the late Oscar and Theodora (Lescault) DeGray. Hondo retired from Mass Mutual after 38 years of service working in the grounds crew and then worked as a school bus driver in Ludlow until his illness. He enjoyed ice skating, watching hockey, football and baseball, and was a devoted fan of the Chicago Blackhawks, NY Giants, and Boston Red Sox; but he especially enjoyed playing with his grandkids. Hondo was the beloved husband of 20 years to Lois (Lajoie) DeGray; a loving father to Renae Mathe and husband Brian, of Pepperell, Ma., and Christine DiVenuto and husband Armand, of Springfield; a cherished grandfather to Mason and Quinn Mathe, and Rory, Eamon, Liam, and Brigid DiVenuto; a dear brother to Victor DeGray and wife Fredia, of East Longmeadow, and Philip DeGray and wife Barbara, of Springfield; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in law, extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011. Friends and family are asked to gather at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Belchertown, at 11:00am for a Liturgy of Christian Burial followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Thursday evening from 4-7pm at Ludlow Funeral Home.Â
