Obituary for Ida (Silva) Saloio
Ida (Silva) Saloio, 85, was called safely home to God on Monday, August 12, 2013. She was born on May 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Tiago and Guilhermina Silva. Ida was life-long resident of Ludlow and a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth’s Parish. She will certainly be remembered for her incredible desserts, but Ida’s true gift to all, was the love and devotion she gave to her family and friends. She leaves her devoted husband, Manuel Saloio with whom she just celebrated 60 years of marriage. Ida was predeceased by her beloved son Robert Saloio in 2007. She is survived by her daughter Susan and husband Thomas LaMondia of East Longmeadow, son Thomas Saloio and wife Susan (Lapan) of Agawam, grandchildren, Michael, Andrea, Katelyn and husband, Court, Allyson, Shelby, Sara, Matthew and Samantha. Ida is also survived by her brother Antonio Silva and wife Mary of Palmer and many adored nieces and nephews. Ida was predeceased by siblings Jose Silva, Aurora Gonsalves, Anna Rodrigues and Mary Silva. Funeral services celebrating Ida’s life will be held on Saturday August 17th, 2013 at 9:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial offered by the Catholic Community of St. Elizabeth in St. John the Baptist Church at 10:00am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday evening from 4:00-7:00pm.


in lieu of flowers, Ida’s family has asked that donations be made in her memory to: St. John the Baptist Pastoral Center, 181 Hubbard St. Ludlow or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at www.dana-farber.org, in her son Bobby’s memory.
