Ilidio J. DaSilva, 71, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Monteiros, Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel and Ana (Machado) DaSilva, and immigrated to Ludlow in 1964. A hardworking man, Ilidio built his life in America through his dedication to construction work at Caracas Construction, retiring in 2016. Outside his career, he found joy in life’s simpler pleasures- gardening, tending to his roses, fishing, camping, and vacationing at Hampton Beach. A true car enthusiast, Ilidio had a deep love for NASCAR and Mopar vehicles. One of his proudest achievements was restoring his cherished 1970 Dodge Challenger S/E, which earned him numerous trophies at car shows. His greatest joy was spending time with his loving family. Ilidio is survived by his loving wife Cynthia M. (Sajdak) of 51 years; a devoted father to Laurie Balboni and husband Matthew, Michelle DaSilva and partner Scott Halkowicz, and the late James DaSilva who predeceased him in 2022; a loving grandfather to Jacob and Vivianne Balboni, and Juliana and Jonathan DaSilva-Halkowicz; a dear brother to Teresa Rodrigues and late husband Armand, Luis DaSilva and wife Gail, Tony DaSilva and wife Cheryl, Manny J. DaSilva, Jr., Lisa Piechota and husband David, the late Jose M. DaSilva and the late Gloria Kamuda and late husband Alfred; and also leaves several nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and his favorite feline Misty. Funeral services for Ilidio will be held privately by his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to D’Amour Cancer Center in Springfield, or Dakin Humane Society.
