Obituary for Irene E. (Bachand) Syriac
Irene E. (Bachand) Syriac, formerly of Eden St.,was called to Heaven on January 19th, 2007, on her 91st birthday. Born in Bennington, Vt., The daughter of Levi and Ida (Lucier) Bachand, she lived most of her life in Springfield before moving to Ludlow in 1953. She worked for many years at Carters in Springfield and the former Ludlow Bookbinding before her retirement. She was also a faithful communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a member it’s St. Anne’s Sodality as well as a member of the Ludlow Senior Center and Golden Agers. Irene was the beloved wife of the late J. Bernard Syriac, who predeceased her on October 25, 2006; a loving mother to Bernice Lambert of Melbourne Beach, FL., Raymond Syriac of Wilbraham, Lawrence Syriac of Springfield and Dennis Syriac of Chicopee; a dear sister to George Bachand of Ct., Frances Barker of N.H., Gloria Hogan of East Longmeadow and the late Esther Noel; and a cherished grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 9. Funeral services will be on Wednesday morning at 9am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in St. John the Baptist Church. Visitation is on Tuesday evening from 6-9pm and interment in Island Pond Cemetery will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Irene’s memory to St. John the Baptist Pastoral Fund 217 Hubbard St. Ludlow, Ma. 01056.
