Obituary for Irene (Karpinsky) Atwell
Irene (Karpinsky) Atwell, 82, of Ludlow, died peacefully, January 26, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow, she worked for many years at Sears and Roebuck Department Store before her retirement in 1976. Irene was the wife of the late Jasper “Cliff” Atwell who predeceased her in 2001. She leaves her loving children ; Joseph Atwell, David Atwell and Gerald Barou all of West Springfield, Donna Atwell of Homosassa, FL, Denise Kertenis of Wilbraham, Darlene Hurley of Shackleford, VA., and Sara Louvitakis of Ware; 10 cherished grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her brother Edward and sisters Loretta, Adele and Lydia. Irene’s family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Wingate at Wilbraham, and the staff at the Ludlow Dialysis Center for the wonderful care they provided for her. Visiting hours for Irene will be held Monday evening from 6-8pm at the Ludlow Funeral Home. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family and donations may be made in Irene’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation 85 Astor Ave. Suite 2, Norwood, MA. 02062.
