Obituary for Irene (Santos) Cellillie
Irene C. (Santos) Cellillie, 96, lifelong resident of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2020 with her loving family by her side. Irene was the daughter of the late Levy and Florida (Ribeiro) Santos and was a 1942 graduate of Ludlow H.S. and later of Mansfield Academy. She worked for 42 years as a merchandise buyer for the former Jessie’s Specialty Shop in Ludlow. Within the community, Irene was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, co-founder of the Ludlow Portuguese Booster Club for Ludlow Hospital and Women's Auxiliary and co-chair for it’s Parade Festival. She was also a 43 year volunteer at the Our Lady of Fatima Festa and along with her sister, was instrumental in the placing of the Statue at the church shrine in honor of her niece. Irene was the beloved wife of the late Ronald Cellillie, who predeceased her in 1993; a loving mother to Ronald “Randy” Cellillie, of Ludlow; a devoted grandmother to Tammy Harris and husband Brian, and Dawn Cellillie; a cherished great-grandmother to Bailey, Shaun, and Laila; a dear sister to Lois Morais, of Ludlow, and the late Louis, Americo “Bobby”, John “Pro”, and Frank Santos, Jessie Oliveira, Martha Duda, and Eva Dias; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. A public walk through visitation will be held on Monday morning, June 22nd from 8:30-10:00am in Ludlow Funeral Home adhering to State and Local guidelines in regards to no contact, social distancing, and PPE. Due to ongoing restrictions, additional funeral services will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene’s memory to Our Lady of Fatima Shrine Fund, or the American Heart Association.
