Obituary for James C. Newman
James Craig Newman, 77, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2006 in Cape Coral, FL.  He was born in Springfield on November 9, 1928, the son of Henry and Jean (Craig) Newman.  Jim grew up in Ludlow where he graduated from Ludlow High School in 1946.  He later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from American International College in Springfield and worked for many years at Chapman Valve in Indian Orchard.  Jim married his high school sweetheart, June (Helberg) Newman in 1953 and enjoyed more than 40 years of married life.  In 1968 Jim and his family moved to Springfield, VT. where he worked for Abrasives and Tools Inc.  He retired as president in 1993.  Jim fully embraced life in Vermont becoming an active member of Crown Point Country Club, the Shriners and the Lion’s Club.  Following the death of his wife, June, in 1993 he moved to North Fort Meyers where he became a member of Grace United Methodist Church and frequent winner in the Sandbaggers Group at Lochmoor Country Club.  Proving he was as lucky in love as he was at golf he married his loving and devoted wife, Jean Baker Newman in 1996.  A loving husband, father and friend who lived life to the fullest, he will be missed by his wife Jean, his children, Susan (George) Johanson, Heather Greenwood, Craig (Janice) Newman, step-son, Mike (Tina) Baker, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and the family members and many friends he had throughout his life.  Jim was predeceased in death by his sister Jean Galarneau.  A graveside service for Jim will be held Thursday August 2, 2007 at 12:00pm at Island Pond Cemetery in Ludlow, MA. with reverend Tim Carlton officiating, all arrangements are entrusted to the Ludlow Funeral Home.
