James E. Lonczak, 77, of Ludlow, passed away on May 20, 2024 after a long illness. James was born in Chicopee to Bernice (Gripka) Lonczak and the late Stanley Lonczak. A lifelong learner, he was a Graduate of Bridgewater State and earned his Masters Degree in Education from Westfield State. He went on to a long career at Ludlow High School as a teacher in the Mathematics Department. James was an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed skiing, hiking the White Mountains and was a very skilled golfer. He spent his summers camping on Cape Cod with his family and friends and loved traveling the world, especially his yearly trips to Walt Disney World. He is survived by his loving wife of 54-years Mary Rita (Martin) Lonczak, daughter Amelie Lonczak, sister Arlene (Lonczak) Willett and her husband Scott, brother in-law Richard Martin and his wife Nancy, nephew Matthew Willett, and nieces Kimberly Willett, Jennifer (Martin) Almeida and Alyssa (Martin) Kinsey. Jim was predeceased by his brother-in-law James Martin. In addition to his family, Jim leaves behind many dear friends and relatives and his beloved beagle, Bailey. Visiting hours for James will be held at Ludlow Funeral Home on Saturday, June 1st from 10:00-11:30am concluding with a funeral home chapel service at 11:30am. Additional services will be held privately at the convenience of the family, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
