Obituary for James 'Jimmy' Fontaine
James “Jimmy” Fontaine, 60, of Chicopee died on October 3, 2013 in Hartford, CT., just 12 days before his 61st brithday. Born in Springfield, son of the late Frederick “Freddy” and Helen (Anderson) Fontaine, he was raised in Ludlow and moved to Chicopee 30 years ago.  Jim worked for over 30 years as a fireman for Monsanto, now Solutia, and was due to retire next year.  He was an avid golfer, swimmer, and motorcyclist, and also loved to visit the beach, anywhere tropical, and took an annual trip to South Beach; but he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  Jim leaves his longtime girlfriend Robin (Severyn) Chandonnet; his 3 loving daughters; Amy Fontaine-Smith and husband Erik, of Ft. Mill, SC, Rebecca Ingle and husband Bryan, of Wayensville, NC, and Angela Fontaine, of Springfield, and their mother Patricia Taylor; 2 sisters; Carol B. Carrington, of Ludlow, and Mary Cloutier and husband Paul, of Springfield; his cherished grandchildren; Coda James Fontaine, and Heather, Caleb, and Cayton Ingle; as well as several loving extended family members and dear friends.  A Celebration of Life service for Jim will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 11:00am in Ludlow Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.  Visiting hours are on Monday from 4-7pm and preceding the funeral on Tues. from 10:00-10:45.
