Obituary for James Saloio Sr.
James Saloio Sr., 72, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ludlow, he was a lifelong resident and a United States Air Force Veteran serving his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. He served the Town of Ludlow for 30 years as town accountant before his retirement in 1998 and was appointed Ludlow’s first Executive Secretary.  He was also a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and member of the Ludlow Country Club. James was the beloved husband of 45 years to Irene (Palatino) Saloio; a loving father to James Jr. and his wife Lucy, Ronald and his wife Lisa, and Kenneth and his wife Sherry, all of Ludlow; a dear brother to Jose, Armelin, Arthur, Manuel, Carlos and Raymond Saloio, all of Ludlow, Ida Santos, also of Ludlow, and Irene Methe, of Belchertown; a cherished grandfather to Alicia, Jack, Brian, Jennifer, Timothy, Josh, Breanna, Lauren, Michael, Matthew and Anthony; and also leaves several loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday morning at 9am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Sunday afternoon from 2-5pm and memorial donations may be made in James memory to Our Lady of Fatima Parish Center Fund, 438 Winsor St. Ludlow, St. John the Baptist Pastoral Center Fund, Hubbard St. Ludlow or the Baystate VNA and Hospice 50 Maple St. P.O.
