Obituary for Jean (Dumais) Bergeron
Jean Orea (Dumais) Bergeron, 85, of Ludlow passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ludlow to the late Fremont and Dora (Couture) Dumais, she was a lifelong resident and a 1951 graduate of Ludlow High School. Jean worked for many years in the retail industry and was a manager at the former G. Fox. She was a volunteer at the Ludlow Senior Center and was a ceramics instructor. Jean was a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish in Ludlow and active in the church, she was a proud member of the St. Anne's Sodality and volunteered in the meat pie fundraiser that uses the family recipe. She was responsible with her cousin Jeanette for the “secret” spices used in the pies. Jean was the beloved wife of Homer Bergeron of Ludlow; loving mother to Susan Bergeron-West (David) of Brimfield, Linda Livingstone (David) of Ludlow, Sharon Burdick (Craig) of Belchertown and Kenneth Bergeron (Andrea) of Arlington, MA; caring sister to the late Roger, Raymond and Alaric Dumais; cherished grandmother to Jill Wray, Cheryl Lewis, Kristie Zielenski, Kaitlyn Myers, Scott Bergeron, Alex Bergeron, Andrew Bergeron and the great grandmother to Brady, Emma, Kayleigh, Abigail and Logan. Funeral services for Jean will be held on Friday, January 4th, 2018 at 10:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00am in St. Elizabeth Parish. Her family will hold private burial services at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Visiting hours at the funeral home are Thursday evening from 4:00-7:00pm and in lieu of flowers please make donations in Jean’s memory to Baystate Hospice or WesternMass Elder Care.
