Jeffrey T. Wilcox, 78, of Wilbraham, died peacefully on Saturday, February
8, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Born in Ludlow, he was a resident of Wilbraham for over 50 years and he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Jeff had a long dedicated career in law enforcement from 1972 until 2005. He served on the Wilbraham Police Department, founded the Western New England University(WNEU) Campus Police Dept., serving as their Chief of Police, and also served as Chief of Police for both the University of Hartford and College of the Holy Cross. He also served on the Board of Directors for the International Assoc. Of Campus Law Enforcement Administration and was a member of the Ma. Chief of Police Assoc. An avid golfer, he was a member and past president of the Wilbraham Country Club, as well as a faithful communicant and an usher for over 40 year at St. Cecelia’s Church in Wilbraham. Jeff leaves his devoted wife of 55 years, Ida (Bernardes) Wilcox; 3 daughters, Lisa Chaffee (Dennis) of Ga., Tamara DeFrancesco (Bill) of NY, and Candace Sciarra (Temo) of CT.; 2 brothers, Richard of Florida, and Edward of Wilbraham; 3 grandchildren, Shannon Chaffee, and Emma and Sophia DeFrancesco. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at St. Cecelia’s Church Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. for his Liturgy of Christian Burial. Military committal services will follow at the East Wilbraham Cemetery. Visiting hours for Jeff will be on Tuesday evening from 4-7 P.M. at the Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East St. Ludlow. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital (stjude.org).
