Obituary for Joan C. (Zurheide) Provost
Joan C. (Zurheide) Provost, 58, of Chicopee, passed away on December 12, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bronx, N.Y., to the late Joseph and Joan (Graham) Zurheide, she attended Immaculate Conception School in Bronx and then Holyoke Schools, before settling in Chicopee. Joan was a manager at Stefanellies in Holyoke for 8 years and worked for 10 years at Ludlow Technical Products. She loved to tinker and be on her computer, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Joan was the beloved wife of 38 years to David Provost; a loving mother to Armand and Davey Provost, and Theresa Afonso and her husband Jason, all of Chicopee; a dear sister to John Zurheide, of Hatfield, Gary Zurheide, of Bronx, NY, Joseph Zurheide, of Holyoke, Chris Zurheide, of South Hadley, and her twin sister Barbara Burelle, of Granby; the cherished grandmother of Joshua and Alicia Afonso; and also leaves many other loving family members and dear friends including her faithful dog Max. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at Ludlow Funeral Home from 5-7:45pm concluding with a Celebration of Life Service at 8:00pm. Friends and family are also asked to gather on Wed. morning for graveside services at Notre Dame Cemetery, South Hadley.
