Obituary for Joao A. Pereira
Joao A. Pereira, 85, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Faia, Portugal, he came to Ludlow in 1973 where he was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He worked for over 10 years at Jahn Foundry before retiring and in his spare time enjoyed gardening, making wine, and especially spending time with his family. Joao was the beloved husband of 48 years to Maria (Costa) Pereira; a loving father to Joaquim "Jack" Pereira and wife Cheryl, of Monson, Paulo Pereira and wife Doreen, of Springfield, Carla Chmura and husband John, of Chicopee, Leonel Pereira, of Springfield, and the late Manuel Pereira; a cherished grandfather to Norman, Heather, Shannon, Matthew, Dylan, Sophia and Gavin; great-grandfather to Alyssa, Emma, Amber, and Santiago; a dear brother to Candida, Ida, Amandio, and Maria dos Anjos, in Portugal, Jose, in Argentina, Diolinda, in Brazil, Amelia, in France, and the late Amalia and Maria; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 8am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by interment in Most Holy Redeemer Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 4-7pm.
