João Alves Pereira, 96, of Valdanta Portugal, died peacefully surrounded by his family on May 11th 2020. Born in Valdanta, Portugal, Son of Victor and Maria Amélia Pereira, he was a part of the Guarda Nacional Republicana in Portugal. He immigrated to Ludlow, where he was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and retired from Alavel in Springfield, MA. He was the husband of Maria Alves Pereira with whom he was married for 64 years.
João leaves behind his daughter Céu and her husband Manny, his son José Luis and his wife Lurdes, his daughter Milu, his son Nuno and his wife Paula, his son Norberto and his wife Teresa, his son Victor and his wife Nela, his son Fernando and his wife Louise, his daughter Fatima and her partner Michael, his seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Joquim, José, Ester, and his lifelong friend António.
João is predeceased by his wife Maria, his brother Luis, and his son Orlando. Services for João will be held in Portugal by his family.
