Obituary for Joao Quiterio
Joao Quiterio, 70, of Ludlow died Saturday, December 20th at Baystate Medical Center. Joao owned three shoe companies in Portugal prior to coming to the U.S.A. when he emigrated with his wife and children in 1988. He owned “Harrison Shoe Repair” on Main Street, Springfield. People called him “Johnie” and he was so proud of his work and appreciated all of his clients. He was proud of this country and recently became an American citizen. Joao was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 40 years Isabel (Loureiro) Quiterio of Ludlow. His loving children; Maria White and her husband Paul of Longmeadow, Rafael Quiterio and his wife Marilia, Jacob Quiterio and his wife Lili and Eva Quiterio all of Ludlow; his cherished grandchildren, that he was so proud of, Felicia and Brianna White of Longmeadow, Brandon, Nathan and Anthony Quiterio of Ludlow and Sabrina, Ashley and Emily Quiterio also of Ludlow; caring brothers Jose and Luis Quiterio his sisters Rosaria, Rosalina and Maria all of Portugal. He will be missed by all. Funeral services for Joao will be held on Wednesday, December 24th, 2008, at 8:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday evening from 5-8pm.
