Obituary for Joaquim "Jack" Ramos
Joaquim “Jack” Ramos, 70, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Vilas Boas, Portugal, son of the late Jose and Maria (DeJesus) Ramos, he proudly served in the Portuguese Army and came to Ludlow in 1969 where he was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club. Jack worked for many years at DMR for the Commonwealth of MA before retiring. He was an passionate Befica fan and enjoyed spending time at his home in Palm Coast, FL, where he was also a member of the Portuguese American Cultural Center of Palm Coast. In his spare time, he also loved hunting, woodworking, carpentry, and will affectionately be remembered as a “Jack of all trades”. Jack was the devoted father of Daniel Ramos, Fernando Ramos, and Lucia Isabel Ramos, all of Ludlow; an adoring “Vo Jack” to his cherished grandchildren Sydney and Judah Kravig; a dear brother to Armindo Ramos and wife Janice, of Quincy, Saudade Fonseca and husband Jose, of Ludlow, Maria Constance Faria and husband Jose, of Ludlow, and the late Antonio Ramos and his widow Carminda. Jack also leaves his former wife and dear friend Belmira Dias, many nieces and nephews, and several extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services for Jack will be held on Tuesday, April 11th at 10:00am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Monday from 4:00-7:00pm.
