Obituary for John Barna
John Barna, of Ludlow, was called to Heaven on Jan. 6, 2010. Born in Ludlow, he was a lifelong resident and faithful member of St’s Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Spfld. John was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving his country honorably during WWII. He trained in Cherry Point, N.C. and from there was stationed in the Pacific Area, Hawaii during the war. He worked for many years at the former Chapman Valve and Van Norman Co. and then as a self employed contractor before retiring. John was the beloved brother of Tillie A. Askew and her husband Lloyd, and Mary Barna, all of Ludlow; and uncle to many loving nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Funeral services are on Tues. Jan 12, 2010 at 10am from Ludlow Funeral Home with funeral liturgy at 11am in St’s Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 118 Carew St, followed by burial with Military Honors at 1pm in Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery Agawam. Visitation will precede the funeral from 8:30-10am.
