Obituary for John Crescentini
Surrounded by his family, John P. Crescentini, 86, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, after a brief illness with cancer. Born on September 26, 1926, he was a life long resident of Ludlow, graduating from Ludlow High School in 1944. As part of America's Greatest Generation, he joined the U.S. Navy immediately upon graduation, serving his country in World War II as a signalman in the Pacific theater. As an industrial engineer, he worked for several companies over his career, including Titeflex, Hamilton Standard, Revco, and Simon Container Machinery. He was a faithful communicant of St. Elizabeth Parish and the former St. Mary of the Assumption Church. He enjoyed working in his garden, golfing, and solving crossword puzzles and cryptograms. He leaves his 7 loving children: Donna Barnard and her husband Robert of Florida; James Crescentini of Oklahoma; Jerry Crescentini of Ludlow; Joel Crescentini and his wife Jill of Monson; Jeffrey Crescentini of Oklahoma; Jay Crescentini and his wife Anna of Feeding Hills; and Debra Morton and her husband James of Ludlow, who were his caregivers and with whom he lived. He also leaves his caring sister, Rena Linton of Connecticut, 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, many extended family members and friends, and his faithful feline companion Maggie. John is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Carol S. (Fournier) Crescentini, who predeceased him in 2006; his son John V. Crescentini in 1990; his parents Vincenzo and Anna (Ellebori) Crescentini in 1979 and 1982; and his brother Alexander Crescentini in 1927. John's family would like to thank the Baystate Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, and especially his Hospice nurse, Becky. Funeral services for John will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 8 AM from the Ludlow Funeral Home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. Elizabeths Parish, followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery.
