Obituary for John D. Kuc

John D. Kuc, 73, of Ludlow, formerly of South Hadley, passed away peacefully on June 8th after a short illness. John was the beloved son of the late Rudolph Kuc, Sr. and Sophie (Malicki) Kuc Gazda and grew up in South Hadley graduating from South Hadley High School in 1970. He furthered his education at STCC earning an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology and worked as a Maintenance Mechanic at Carando Foods in Springfield until his retirement.

In May of 1974, John married his wife Diane (Macko) and together they enjoyed 51 years of marriage. They lived in South Hadley until 2017 when the decision was made to downsize and move to Ludlow. John and Diane loved to travel and after their retirement together, they traveled to many different places and were always on the go. He was an avid gardener of over 50 years, and enjoyed growing, planting and sharing his crops with family and friends. John loved talking about and going to local car shows and concerts. Of course, his love of cooking was another enjoyment. No one ever turned down an invitation for a delicious meal. He was also a jack of all trades. He knew how to repair almost anything. And if he didn’t know he would figure it out. His quick wit is going to be missed by his wife and daughter.

He leaves his loving and devoted wife Diane Kuc; his loving daughter Alissa, her husband Nick, and his grand-daughters Kaelyn and Kylie Emmett of Ludlow. He also leaves his son Jason, daughter-in-law Heidemarie, and grandchildren Kyrsia and Jaxon Kuc of Newburyport. In addition, John leaves his sister Alice Partanen and husband Bill of Ft. Pierce, FL; his brother Rudolph Kuc, Jr. and wife Patricia of South Hadley; sister in law Pat Kuc of Chicopee; step brother Michael Gazda and wife Diane of Punta Gorda, FL; step sister-in-laws Elizabeth Gazda of West Springfield and Susan Gazda of Northport, FL; sister-in-law and brother in law Eileen & Fred Roach of South Hadley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law David & Susan Macko of South Hadley; many nieces & nephews; extended family members; and dear friends. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Andrew & Martha Macko; twin Brother William Kuc; stepfather Paul Gazda; stepbrothers Paul (Gus) Gazda and Peter Gazda; and a brother from another mother, his cousin, Raymond Faginski, Jr.

John’s family would like to thank Dr. Cuevas-Rivera, Dr. Ghaoui and Dr. Rajapakse, the staff on Baystate 1400 and his care team from Baystate Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.

Visiting hours for John will be held on Friday, June 20th from 10:00-11:30am at Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30am. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family.
