Obituary for John E. Barlow
John E. Barlow, long-time resident of Ludlow, devoted husband of 67 years to Clara (Bachta) Barlow entered into eternal rest on December 18, 2021. He was born December 13, 1932 to the late John and Lula (Gendreau) Barlow. John was a proud teacher at Duggan Junior High School for over 40 years where he was given the nickname “Dean” by his colleagues. He was inducted into the Ludlow High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2013 as an Outstanding Contributor to Athletics. John served in the United States Navy in the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and sports fan. John was a member of the Ludlow Country Club and Unity AC. He loved his annual summer family vacation to Hampton Beach. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his son, John “Jackie”, his brother, William “Bud”, his sister Joyce Goodrow, his son-in-law Gordon “Gordy” Duggan, his brother-in-law John Bachta and wife Louise and sister-in-law Ruth Coviello. John is survived by his wife, Clara; his daughter, Darlene Duggan of Enfield, CT; his granddaughter, Kaleigh Duggan of Boston; his grandson Trey Duggan and his fiancée Lisa Campisi of Enfield, CT; his sister, Barbara Daly and her long-time partner, Ronald of Pompano Beach, FL; his brother Charles “Skipper” and his wife Lorraine of St. Cloud, FL, sister-in-law Roberta Lafayette and husband Fred, brother-in-law Chick Coviello; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday December 23, 2021 from 4:00-6:00pm at the Ludlow Funeral Home. John’s burial will be held privately by his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Ludlow Boys and Girls Club @ ludlowbgc.org.
