Obituary for John J. Murty
John J. Murty, 91, formerly of Guertin Ave, was called to Heaven on February 17, 2007.  Born in Dundee, Scotland, he came to Ludlow in the 1920’s before moving to Ludlow in 1955 where he was a faithful communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.  He worked for Monsanto for 35 years before retiring in 1978 and was also a member of it’s 25 year club.  John was the beloved husband of the late Phyllis (Douillard) Murty, who predeceased him in 2005; the loving father of Michael Murty and his wife Laura, with whom he lived in Belchertown, Robert Murty of Ludlow, and the late Peter, Roger and John Murty, who predeceased him; a dear father-in-law to Margaret Murty of Springfield; a caring brother to Jane Griffin of Longmeadow; a cherished grandfather to Scott Tassinari of South Carolina, Heather Murty of Springfield and Holly Placzek of Chicopee, beloved great-grandfather of Kristen, Dalton and Samantha; was also a special grandfather to Terri, Justin and Michael Lincoln of Belchertown and Jessica, Jason, Tyler Erica and Matthew Woodward of Westfield and will be missed by his dog Sam.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning.  Friends and family are asked to gather for a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church followed by burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  There are no calling hours and Ludlow Funeral Home entrusted with the arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to Baystate Hospice PO BOX 9058 Springfield, Ma.
