Obituary for John Jr. Pereira
John Pereira Jr., 56, of Ludlow, was called to Heaven on July 20, 2008. Born in Ludlow he was a lifelong resident and a 1969 graduate of Ludlow High School. He worked for 21 years at Smith and Wesson and more recently at Savage Arms until February of this year. John was a proud member of the Ludlow Elks, Portuguese American Citizens Club and the Wednesday Nighters Bowling League. He also enjoyed traveling to the Bahamas and playing golf. John was the beloved son of Jeannette (Gibeau) Pereira, of Ludlow, and the late John Pereira Sr.; a loving husband to Susan L. (Nobbs) Pereira; a cherished father and grandfather to Sheri (Pereira) Gebo, her husband Shane, and their children Jack, Madison, and Kate, of Springfield, and John Pereira III, his wife Amy (Zeo), and their daughter Jamie Lynn, of Enfield, Ct.; a dear brother to James F. Pereira Sr. and his wife Laura, of Mattapoisett, Ma., Joanne M. Pereira, of Clifton, Va., and Jeffrey M. Pereira and his wife Rita (Larke), of Lisle, IL.; and also leaves several cherished nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. Friends and family are asked to gather for a funeral liturgy on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at 10am in St. Mary of the Assumption Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5-8pm.
