John M. Kulig, 74, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2022 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Ludlow, son of the late Felix and Julia (Cieplinski) Kulig, he was a lifelong resident and graduate of Trade High School. John was a United States Marine Corps Veteran proudly serving his country in Vietnam and was a longtime member of the Ludlow VFW Post 3236. He was employed for many years at the former Asten-Johnson in Springfield from where he retired and upon retirement, he worked as a groundskeeper at Ludlow Country Club. In his free time, John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, friends, and his labs, especially his most recent canine buddy Ebee. John was the beloved husband of 49 years to Francine (Kulis) Kulig; a loving father to Kari Kulig of The Bahamas, Katherine Aurilio and husband Bruno, of Melrose, MA, and Kristen Gilhooley and husband Sean, of Deerfield Beach, FL; a devoted grandfather to Reef and River Gilhooley, and Lorenzo and Luciano Aurilio; a dear brother to Robert Kulig and wife Sandy, of Ludlow, and Carol Genander and husband Lawrence, of Sagamore; and also leaves many loving extended family members and dear friends. Visiting hours for John will be held on Monday, October 24th from 5:00-7:00pm in Ludlow Funeral Home. A private burial with Military Honors will be held by his family in Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to SGT Joshua D.
