John Martin Cameron, 82, of Ludlow, Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Born in Boston, MA, on June 15, 1943, John lived a life defined by dedication, integrity, and a deep love for his family. He is survived by "the love of his life" and wife of 56 years, Ada Cameron; his son, Matthew Cameron, daughter-in-law Elizabeth; and grandchildren, Lainey and Jackson, with whom he spent countless joyful hours at home and on the beach in Moody, Maine. John was the retired President of Jahn Foundry in Springfield, where his leadership and strong work ethic earned the respect of many. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was a three-sport athlete in his youth and earned a soccer scholarship to the University of Bridgeport. After college, John competed in softball and candlepin bowling leagues. In his 40s, he took up golf and pool, becoming a regular in the Thursday night golf league at Westover Golf Course and a frequent competitor at the pool table. One of John’s greatest passions was supporting his son Matthew’s soccer journey—first as a player and later as a coach. In the late '80s and early '90s, John would use vacation time by the hour to leave work, catch Matthew's high school game, and return—a true testament to his unwavering support. Many of his closest friendships were formed through the Western Mass soccer community and his years at the golf course. John cherished scenic foliage drives and weekends with Ada, hands-on woodworking projects, tinkering with everything imaginable, cutting the grass on his riding mower, and, above all, time spent with his grandchildren. Known for his honesty, sharp wit, and strength of character, he was never afraid to speak his mind and always put others first. The Cameron family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Western Mass Hospital and to family member Kim Pilon for the exceptional care and compassion shown to John in his final months. A memorial service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Friday, October 3, from 4–6 p.m. at Ludlow Funeral Home, 432 East St., Ludlow, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Ludlow Senior Center.
