Obituary for João Marques
João Silva Marques, 74 of Ludlow, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lamegal, Penalva do Castelo, Portugal, he was the son of the late Antonio Marques and Maria Balbina da Silva, he spent many years in construction, working for F+J Construction, Alves Construction and most recently Ludlow Construction from where he retired. He enjoyed gardening and most of all spending time with his granddaughter Scarlett. João was the beloved husband of nearly 50 years to Grace Marques. A loving father to Daniel Marques and wife Kristi Marques and beloved grandfather to his menina linda Scarlett Marques. A dear brother to Fernando Marques and wife Aida and the late Jose Marques. He leaves behind sister-in-law Aurora Marques of Portugal and also leaves brother-in-law Manuel A. Rodrigues of Portugal, Jay and Irene Kane of Ludlow and Jon and Lori Cummings of Florida as well as his god children and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for João will be held on Wednesday, October 15th, from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visitation is in the morning from 9:00-10:15am, with a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 11:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 438 Windsor Street Ludlow or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital @ www.stjude.org.
