Obituary for Jose Barroso
Jose Barroso, 49, of Ludlow entered peacefully into the Kingdom of Heaven on Monday, July 21st, 2008.  Born in Torgueda da Cha in Tras-os-Montes, Portugal, he was the son of Ana (Dias) Barroso and the late Manuel Barroso.  Jose has lived in Ludlow for the past 45 years and worked for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company of Rocky Hill, Connecticut.  He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, a longtime member of the Unity Athletic Club, and a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club, where he volunteered during the Western Mass Pioneers home games serving beverages.  Joe served his town as a voter registrar, former chairman of the town Republican Party and was involved in the Hubbard Memorial “Friends of the Library”.  He enjoyed gardening, raising small farm animals and was a devoted New York Yankees fan.  Joe was a loving and devoted father and will be sadly missed by his cherished daughter Amanda of Ludlow, his mother Ana (Dias) Barroso; loving brothers Fernando Barroso and his partner Isabel of Ludlow, Antonio Barroso and his wife Joanne of Indian Orchard, Manuel Barroso and his wife Karen of Ludlow, George Barroso of Ludlow and his caring sister Herminia Forest and her husband Richard of Townsend, MA; nephews, Christopher, Nathan, Nicholas and Jonathan and his nieces Elizabeth, Melissa, Natalie, Sara and Ami as well as his great-niece, Danielle and great-nephews, Zachary and Aiden; his 6 godchildren and his lifetime close friends, John Dias, Emilio Santos and Alex Alves.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26th, 2008 at 8:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church, burial will be private.  Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 5-8pm and donations may be made in his memory to a memorial fund: C/O Berkshire Bank, 431 Center St., Ludlow for the benefit of his daughter Amanda.
