Obituary for Jose Bento Gomes
Jose Gomes, 95, of Ludlow was called home to be with God on Friday, December 14, 2007. Born in Covas, Portugal he has resided in Ludlow since 1975 and was a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club and a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Jose served in the Portuguese Army and helped many in the community in his earlier years. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Engracia (Fernandes) Gomes; loving children Maria do ceu Goncalves and her husband Abel, Herminio Gomes and his wife Christina Martins, Arlindo Gomes and his wife Emilia, Aida Esteves and her husband Joao, Lucia Gomes and Fernanda Gomes; his daughter-in-law Lucia Gomes; 14 cherished grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Jose was predeceased by a son Carlos Gomes in 1989. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:00AM from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours for Jose will be held Monday Evening from 4-7PM.
