Obituary for Jose "Duarte" Tereso
Jose “Duarte” Tereso, 79, of Wilson St., was called to Heaven on April 6, 2006. Born in Carris, Alcobaca Portugal, he was a longtime resident of Ludlow, a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and worked for local manufacturing companies as a machine operator before his retirement. Jose also enjoyed the many hours he spent making wine and working in his garden. He leaves his loving wife of 9 years Maria Claudinha Cesteira of Portugal; beloved children Jose and his wife Mari of Springfield, Paul of Ludlow, Maria “Lia” DosSantos and her husband Joao of Ludlow and Isabel Tereso of Boston; dear sisters Laura Rita of Ludlow and Elisa Rita Tereso of Alcobaca Portugal; beloved grandchildren Alex, Marissa and Karla DosSantos and step granddaughter Vilmarie Sanchez. Jose was predeceased by his siblings Ana Rita, Maria Rita and Gertrudes Rita and also leaves his first wife Noemia Rosa Tereso of Ludlow; many caring neighbors at the Ludlow Housing Authority and many extended family members and friends in Ludlow and Portugal. Jose’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Keith Mortman, Dr. Jose Vinagre and his secretary Maria Ferreira and his home health aid Agnes Gromala for the care they gave to their father. Funeral services are on Monday morning at 8am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visitation is on Sunday evening from 4-6pm.
