Obituary for Jose Goncalves
Jose C. Goncalves, 88, of Ludlow passed away peacefully on Monday February 14th, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ludlow to the late Domingos Goncalves and Gracinda Dias, he was a lifelong Ludlow resident and faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Jose was the beloved husband of 46 years to Aurora (daSilva) Goncalves; loving father of Maria Gamache and her husband Thomas of Ludlow and Gracinda Hawley and her husband LTC Kenneth Hawley of Schofield Barracks in Hawaii; cherished grandfather to Joseph Gamache, Kaitlyn Hawley, Sarah Hawley, Nicholas Hawley and Hannah Hawley; caring brother to Abilio Goncalves and his wife Irene, Faustino Goncalves and his wife Fernanda and Alina daSilva and her husband Fernando all of Ludlow as well as many loving nieces and nephews throughout the community. Sadly Jose was predeceased by his brothers Carlos Goncalves and Silverio Goncalves and a sister Aurora Martins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18th, 2011 at 8:30am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 9:30am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Thursday evening from 4:00-7:00pm.
