Obituary for Jose J. Alves
Jose Alves, 83, of Birch St., was called safely home to be with God on Tuesday, February 28, 2006. Born in Padornelos, Portugal, he has lived in Ludlow for the past 40 years and was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a proud member of the Gremio Lusitano Club. He worked for many years at the former Moore Drop Forge Company in Springfield before his retirement in 1983. Jose especially enjoyed gardening, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife of 60 years Ana (Juliano) Alves of Ludlow; loving children Virginia Pires and her husband Anibal, Arminda Santos and her husband Manuel, Tony Alves and Maria Alves all of Ludlow and the late Joe Alves who passed away in 1977; cherished grandchildren Tony Pires and his wife Chris, Ana Maria Pires-Serisser and her husband Faycal , Linda Alves, Shana Santos and Derek Santos; great-grandchildren Malik Serisser, Emma Serisser, Joseph Pires and Francesca Dicarro; caring brother Antonio Larouco and his wife Isaura of Portugal and Virginia Andre and her husband Jose of Ludlow and the late Joaquim Alves, Laurinda Baltazar and Arminda Antunes. Funeral services will be held Friday morning March 3, 2006 at 8:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Thursday evening from 5-8pm.
