Obituary for Jose Lamas
Jose Maria Lamas, 96 of Ludlow passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 27, 2020. Born in Castelo, Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Portugal to the late Domingos and Luisa Lamas, he lived in Ludlow since 1967. He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. He was a loving and devoted husband to his late wife, Lourdes (Freitas) Lamas, for nearly 72 years. He enjoyed tending to his many fruit trees and vegetable gardens. He had quite the green thumb. He also enjoyed hunting and winemaking. His family was his pride and joy and he treasured the times he spent with them, especially vacations at the beach, and trips to Portugal. Jose was a loving father to Domingos (Theresa), Maria Silva (Tony), Maria “Milu” Pereira (Mario), Anna Repko (Bruce), Alan (Mary Jo), Sergio (Julie), and daughter-in-law São Lamas. He will be missed by his fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Sadly, Jose was predeceased by his son Nelson, brother Antonio, sisters Maria Pinto, Ana Marques, and Adelaide Valadares.
