Obituary for Jose M DaCosta
Jose M. DaCosta, 77, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Vila Ruiva, Portugal, son of the late Jose and Maria Rosa (Nunes) DaCosta, he immigrated to the United States in 1952 and settled in Ludlow where he and his wife Bonnie raised their family. He was a 1965 graduate of Trade High School and was employed as an advanced metal technician and pattern maker. He worked at Chapman Valve and more recently for S. Ralph Cross and Sons, Inc from where he retired. Jose’s many passions included listening to music, fishing, riding his motorcycle, doing home improvements, meditating, and self improvement of his mind and body. Above all, Jose loved spending time with his family. He will be affectionately remembered for always making everyone feel like they were part of his family and going out his way to help them. Jose was the beloved husband of 52 years to Bonnie (Desmarais) DaCosta until her passing in 2020. He was a devoted father to Yvette M. Talenda and husband Jeffrey, Catherine A. Zimmerman and husband Herbert, and Joseph M. DaCosta; a cherished grandfather to Kyle E.J. DiPenta and spouse Marisa Morrissette, Alexandra A. Zimmerman, and Carl M. Zimmerman; a dear brother to Maria Adams, Judith Berniche and husband James, and the late Antonio DaCosta and Esther Phaneuf; and also leaves his sister-in-law Carol DaCosta, many loving extended family members, and dear friends. A Celebration of Life Service for Jose will be held in conjunction with his wife Bonnie who passed away during the Covid pandemic. Visiting hours for them will be held on their wedding anniversary Monday, July 8th, from 5:00-7:00pm at Ludlow Funeral Home concluding with a funeral home chapel service at 7:00pm. Additional services will be held privately by the family and in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org)
