Obituary for Jose Manuel de Moura Goncalves
Jose Manuel de Moura Goncalves, 85, of Ludlow, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Bustelo, Chaves, Portugal, he was the son of the late Abilio and Elvira (de Moura) Goncalves. Jose immigrated to the United States settling in Ludlow where he was a devoted member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. He worked for many years at Smith & Wesson before retiring.
Jose was the beloved husband of Adelaide Alves Miranda Goncalves; a loving father to Suzete Goncalves Rodrigues and husband Grafilo; devoted grandfather to Tyler and Brandon Rodrigues; dear brother to Manuel Goncalves and wife Gloria, and the late Carlota Goncalves; brother-in-law to the late Felizardo Madureira; and also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Jose’s family will hold a private visitation, however Family and friends are asked to gather on Friday, October 31st to celebrate a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00am directly at Our Lady of Fatima Parish followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Jose’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
