Obituary for Jose P. Carvalho
Jose P. Carvalho, 76, of Ludlow, MA, died on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by family. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Antonia, a son Joel and a daughter, Elizabeth, her husband, Antonio and their children, Zachary and Abby. Jose was born and raised in Portugal, where he attended school and served in the Portuguese Army in 1955-1958, stationed in Goa, India. He came to the United States in 1962, at the age of 28. He has been a resident of Ludlow, MA for 48 years, and during his time in Ludlow, he owned and built a successful road construction business. For many years, he was a member of the Gremio Lusitano Club, a local Portuguese social club. He will be remembered as a hard-working man, who enjoyed his occasional trips back to Portugal. During those trips, he visited with family members and enjoyed the sights and sounds of his homeland. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 25th, 2010 at 9:00am from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated in Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10:00am followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday evening from 5:00pm-8:00pm and In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Jose’s name to the charity of your choice.
