Obituary for Jose Rodrigues
We are heartbroken to share the passing of Jose Antonio Monteiro Rodrigues, who left us peacefully on Sunday September 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1951 in Soutelo de Aguiar, Portugal, to the late Antonio Rodrigues and Teresa Monteiro, he shared 49 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Maria Rodrigues, who was by his side until the end. Jose was the beloved father to the late Jose Paulo who sadly predeceased him in 1979; he leaves his loving daughters, Isabel Morais (partner Nhan Ho), and Filipa DaSilva (husband David); he was a proud grandfather to Marina, Lucas, and Cristiano. Jose also leaves behind sisters Edite Costa (husband Jose) of Ludlow, Ana Maria Ferreira (husband Joao) of Kitchener, Ontario, Elizabete Cerejo (husband Francisco) of Portugal, brother Carlos Monteiro Rodrigues of Portugal and his late brothers Eduardo and Domingos. Jose also leaves many beloved nieces, nephews whom he shared many cherished memories. Jose found joy in the simple things—his family, the outdoors, and his garden. He was happiest when tending to his garden, listening to music, and watching soccer. He especially loved spending time with his family, and grandchildren who were his greatest joy. Jose’s life was a testament to the importance of family, friendship, and community. He was a man who thrived in the company of others, always eager to offer a smile or lend a helping hand. Funeral services for Jose will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 from the Ludlow Funeral Home. Visiting hours are Friday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM with a Liturgy of Christian Mass celebrated at 11AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, followed by Burial in Island Pond Cemetery.
