Joseph Santos "Joe or Torpedo" of Ludlow left this world peacefully at Holyoke Medical Center as a resident of the Holyoke Soldiers Home on April 28 . He recently turned 95. He was a lifelong resident of Ludlow. At 18 years of age he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends daily at McDonalds and would often be seen riding his bike in town. You could always count on him for a good joke. He enjoyed watching classic movies and playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Gremio Lusitano Club, member of the Knights of Columbus, and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Parish.
