Obituary for Joseph M. Bates, Jr.
Joseph M. Bates, 49, of Ludlow, passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2018. Born in Springfield, son of the late Joseph and Joan (Teehan) Bates, he was a lifelong resident of Ludlow and 1988 graduate of Ludlow High School. Joe worked for many years at Tommy Mack Carpetland alongside his good friend the late Tommy Mack, and most recently as a personal CNA for various clients which showcased his care and compassion of people. Joe was a dedicated New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan and an amazing friend to the people that loved him. He also loved to read and enjoyed music. Joe leaves his aunts and uncles Barbara Bates, Elizabeth O’Brien, Dan Sullivan and wife Kathy, Cathy and Dan Sullivan, Ellen and Tom Mogavero, Rosamond Bellucci, and Jack and Shirley Teehan; numerous cousins and extended family; his best and closest friends and their families; as well as Ron and Paula Fontaine and their family Brandi Fontaine, Travis Easton, Sylis Easton, and Sadie DeMaria, whom all loved their “Uncle Joe”; close friend Nina Arnold; as well as many friends who loved him. A graveside service for Joe will be held on Saturday, April 7th at 11:00am in Gate of Heaven Cemetery where he will be laid to rest alongside his parents. Ludlow Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to offset funeral expenses.
